Hazar is a passionate radio fan and author.
In the 90s he worked full-time as a host, author and producer for various WDR stations.
Recently, he took up work as an author for cultural programmes of Deutschlandfunk.

At present, Hazar is developing an episode of the three-hour cultural programme “Long Night” on Deutschlandfunk together with Luciana Caglioti about the culture of immigrants from the Mediterranean region in Germany. This programme was postponed until at least November 2020 due to the Corona crisis.

Between 1988 and 2002 Hazar hosted and produced music and cultural programmes on the radio. Programmes such as “Caravan”, “Radio 5 in the Morning “, “City Sounds”, “Music of the World”, “Scene”, “Music Passages”, “Euro-Scala”, “5 Planets”, “From Bosporus to Gibraltar”. Most of these were programmes on WDR 5 and WDR 3. Parallel to that, he also produced programmes for Bayerischer Rundfunk, Deutsche Welle, Deutschlandfunk and Sender Freies Berlin.
Hazar was also a jury member of the EBU (European Broadcasting Union) “World Music Charts Europe” and a jury member of the German Record Critics’ Award.
